MONSTER PIANO NIGHT HOME PAGE

Do you play good jazz....

piano?

bass (upright, maybe electric)?

drums?

First, if you play good solo jazz piano, you might be interested in joining our monthly "Monster Piano Night" with myself and other local (NW) jazz pianists. We play for each other, usually a different monthly theme ("Duke Ellington/Billy Strayhorn night" or "Benny Golson night," for example). No drums or bass or horns. SOLO PIANO! Our purpose is to enjoy each other's playing and learn from one another. It's usually held at my place (on my new C7 Yamaha) or Scot Ranney's Bellingham home. Contact me if you need more details. Usually the 2nd or 3rd Monday evening, but we might be flexible. Other guests have included Paul Sorenson, Bill MacDonough, Terry Harmer, David Carlson

Recent Monster Night Themes: Duke Ellington/Billy Strayhorn; Beatles Music; McCoy Tyner; Horace Silver; Jerome Kern; Gershwin; Billy Holiday; Songs with "Spring" in title; Benny Golson; Harold Arlen; Jobim; Louis Armstrong; Christmas Music;

Second, I have a wondeful new music room and wish to share it. I am looking for a SERIOUS drummer and upright bass player to work on trio music. Abilty required: university/professional level. Contact me if you have more interest. My home is in Ferndale, between Bellingham and the Canadian border. I am looking for musicians interested in meeting monthly or so to jam, play standards, new music.
