Do you know what you need to know about worship?

Your neighborhood church where you and your family are always welcome!

Located at the corner of Church and Thornton Roads in Ferndale, WA. Church is at 9:30 AM Sundays.

About Us:

Ferndale Alliance is a family friendly, Christ centered church that explores God's Word (the Bible) and expresses our worship in a positive and contemporary style. (And yes, we still do some of the great old hymns!). Currently our pastor is taking us "through the Bible" to help us understand the many different and wonderful ways God works in our lives. Currently, we are journeying through the New Testament. For a reading/sermon schedule click here!

Though the building we meet in is over 100 years old (it was once named the First Swedish Baptist Church of West Ferndale and later Bakerview Baptist), FAC began in 1987 when 2 families (who were part of the Northwood Alliance Church in Blaine) felt God wanted a similar congregation in Ferndale. The first service began on September 11, 1988 under the leadership of Pastor Jon Mutchler and his wife Diane.

Our pastor is a man who has a heart for this community and is committed to helping families find God's Message for them in the good and bad of life. Jon is also active in the area "music scene" (he is a professional pianist) and along his wife Diane (a former Ferndale school teacher), they have built 2 homes here. They have been married 25 years and raise seven awesome kids, some who serve in various ministries around the church. Our pastor was also elected to serve on our Ferndale city council.

The folks here at FAC are families you likely know from our community. They come from different walks of life and come in all shapes and sizes. Some have been Christians "all their lives." Others have just begun their journey with God. And still others here are exploring and learning before them jump in with both feet. So, whether young or old, new or mature, FAC is a healthy and safe place to be!

We are part of a larger group (an "alliance") of churches called the Christian and Missionary Alliance that has churches across the country and around the world. Our churches emphasize living the life Jesus wants for us and sharing that dynamic and life changing news with others. Yes, we have some core beliefs and values about God and the Bible that guide us on our journey to know God. If you have any questions about FAC drop us a note or call 384-4279.

We think FAC is a pretty special place. If you are looking for a local community church to learn, grow, and even serve, give us a visit!

Our Church Motto: Believing, Belonging, Becoming

We believe the Bible teaches that God loves and longs for us, Jesus died and lives for us, and the Holy Spirit empowers and transforms us into the wholeness of God's image.

We belong to each other and although broken and wounded people we are learning to practice unconditional love and redemptive forgiveness, especially when it's difficult.

We are becoming God's people and shining lights to a hurting community and lost world through confidence in God, a daily yielding to his will, and a resilient commitment to each other even when we are not at our best and least deserve it.

Getting Married? Need a building for your ceremony? Need a Pastor or officiant?

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding, and thank you for for your interest in FAC's or Pastor Jon's services. Regardless of whether Pastor Jon or FAC participate in your wedding, we truly desire God's best for you and a blessed and happy marriage should God lead you in that director.

We hope to answer a few questions you may have, here. If you need m ore information, contact Pastor Jon at FerndaleAllianceChurch@frontier.com or call 360 384 4279

"Pastor, will you marry us?" "Maybe" is the short answer. Pastor Jon usually does ceremonies with those whom he knows, or is "getting to know." "Doing weddings" isn't part of Pastor Jon's ministry or job description. Rather, Pastor Jon is committed and concerned with healthy, stable, and growing marriages, of which the wedding is just one day. However, he will at times assist couples whom he doesn't yet know well.

There are several things Jon requires of couples who wish for him to work with them as they prepare for their special day.

The couple needs to understand that Pastor Jon is a Christian, a Christian pastor of a Christian church, and does Christian weddings. He assumes and expects that a couple coming to him desire a Christian pastor and wedding because they themselves are either Christians or on their way toward following the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. The ceremony and wedding vows he uses don't work well for folks who don't believe or don't both feel yet like they wish to make Christ Lord and Savior and Center of their homes.

The couple needs to attend a local church (hopefully, together!). We believe that marriages are about communities and relationships. It isn't "just about 2 people." Of course, many, many marriages succeed and thrive without the benefit of a Christian , church community. However, we think belonging and being involvied in a community of faith is God's desire and ideal.

Pastor Jon and our church believe in chastity (abstinence) before marriage, and faithfulness in marriage. Regardless of the level of sexual intimacy and practice in the past, if Pastor Jon performs the wedding ceremony he asks that couples live, going forth, as chaste and unmarried (celibate, and not living together) until the wedding day. (Pastor Jon is happy to discuss unique situations in which this might not be possible, especially if a de-facto family (shared children) has already been built.)

Pastor Jon requires premarital counseling with couples. This usually requires, at the minimum, 3 months time before the wedding or (preferably) more. Usually, there are 5-6 sessions. The primary goal of these counseling sessions is to assist as much as possible in the preparation of a happy, successful, and lasting marriage.

We hope this is helpful. Pastor Jon, at times, can be flexible on these requirements in special, unique situations. These are guiding principles for him and our church, not rigid and inflexible laws. If you have any questions, contact him.

Also, if you are still looking for an officiant to do a wedding, you can Google "Whatcom County Marriage Officiant"which will lead you to some resources.
